Supporting women to build better communities.

We Women Empowered a not-for-profit has been at the forefront of making a difference in communities since 1993. Located at the intersection of community and life, We Women Empowered is a life-affirming journey that builds on the richness and power of lifelong values. We have been providing women with the values and skills they need to build exceptional communities.

We function as a ground-up organization rather than a top-down one. This means that we are with the community, and we understand the community. That is why it is so important for us to act as a cooperative organization that is a self-governing body of people organized on a voluntary basis to meet the common economic, social and cultural needs and expectations of urban communities

Empowering women to build a brighter future for all.

Community Impact

Josephine Mother Wade has long been an informal and official leader in Chicagoland's urban neighborhoods. She learned early in life the importance of being connected to the most vulnerable people. Many people use the term "community involvement," but it is part of the organizational culture of We Women Empowered. We have developed strong and productive connections throughout Chicago's various communities in order to advocate for and promote realistic, equitable, and long-term solutions that enhance the quality of living for all.

Power of Education

We support education programs that empower both young and old to take control of their lives and careers. From high education to learning a trade or skill, we help young people and others make their educational and career dreams a reality.

Experiential Learning - Power of Trades

Experiential learning is not an experience that is provided by institutions of higher learning.  every day across the Chicagoland and the United States people are provided opportunities to demonstrate skills and consider the fit of a job or company, as well as develop relationships.

“With the support from We Women Empowered, we have been able to serve our community better than ever.”

— Carrie M. Austin, Chicago’s 34th Alderman
